Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento
Founded in 1982 by Mike and Debbie Baad and Dolores Allen, the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento holds the primary goal of presenting the comic humor of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. Over the course of more than forty years, they have produced most of the duo's works, showcasing the brilliance of Gilbert and Sullivan's musical collaborations. In addition to their focus on Gilbert and Sullivan, the theater company has also produced other Classical Musical Theatre works, such as "The Man of La Mancha," "Into the Woods," and many others. This diverse repertoire allows them to delight audiences with a variety of timeless and beloved musical productions.

The Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento proudly presents "A Most Ingenious Paradox: An Evening of Gilbert & Sullivan Operetta and Other Classical Musical Theatre Gems." Join us for this captivating performance at the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Sacramento, located at 4829 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819, starting at 7:00 PM.
Our talented company members will delight the audience with tunes from ten of the famous duo's operettas, including beloved classics like "The Pirates of Penzance" and "H.M.S. Pinafore." In addition to the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, we will also showcase musical selections from Classical Broadway masters such as Rodgers & Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim.
Don't miss the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre with us. We are excited to present at least two newly composed numbers, including an excerpt from James D Sasser and Charles Vincent Burwell’s "By Georges! A Day in the Life of the Legendary Chevalier de Saint-Georges" (commissioned and premiered by Lamplighters Music Theatre earlier this year) and the world premiere of a newly composed aria by our very own company member, Robert Vann, based on a text by W.S. Gilbert.
