La Jolla Presbyterian Church Concert Series
Now in its 64th season, La Jolla Presbyterian Church Concert Series has served as a community outreach of The La Jolla Presbyterian Church Worship & Arts Ministry. We are a donation-based nonprofit group dedicated to sharing the gift of highest-caliber artistry with the community, at no charge for admission. Through the gift of music—representing many genres and wide-ranging repertoire performed by renowned and emerging top-tier talent—we invite all to find a place here, to savor the experience, and share in this joyful, unifying mission.

Música Nueva
As part of the California Festival, La Jolla Presbyterian Church Concert Series presents the innovative San Diego-based chamber ensemble, Camarada. Deeply influenced by the rich tradition of Argentinian music, Camarada will perform a captivating program to include two recently commissioned ensemble pieces by Argentinian-born composer Andrés Martín, and an outstanding solo work for double bass composed and performed by Mr. Martín.

Program Notes
Camarada is dedicated to its mission to elevate and enrich the San Diego community and beyond by presenting chamber music programs that ignite a lasting connection between the audience, artists, and music. By working directly with artistic spaces throughout the San Diego area, Camarada works to bring its intimate musical experiences to diverse audiences and create programming at the fusion of local music, art, dance, and culture.
Andrés Martín, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an arranger, composer, and double bassist. An accomplished composer, Mr. Martín’s work is commissioned and performed by renowned soloists, chamber ensembles, and orchestras around the world. In addition to his compositional work, he has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles and as a soloist in Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, and the United States. In collaboration with Eastman Strings Company, he designed a new double bass aimed to his specifications to serve as a modern solo instrument. Since his arrival in Tijuana, Mexico, Mr. Martín has been immersed in teaching as well as continuing to perform as a soloist and chamber musician. He has been a member of the “Orquesta de Baja California” since 2002. He also organizes and directs “Contrabajos de Baja California A.C.,” a Double Bass academy celebrating an annual international Double Bass festival and chamber music course held in Tijuana.
