Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles / Angel City Chorale
Founded in 2009, Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (ICYOLA) is the largest majority Black orchestra in the country. ICYOLA is nonprofit corporation that transforms the lives and minds of young people in Inner City Los Angeles through high-quality music education. The organization provides inner-city youth with opportunities to perform music in the most magnificent settings of our community and prepares them for advanced study and high caliber success in music and otherwise.

The ICYOLA 2023–24 Season Opening Concert with Angel City Chorale
A concert in memory of Kenneth Brown and for the benefit of the Ken Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund, with special guests Angel City Chorale, Artistic Director Sue Fink, composer and conductor Christopher Tin, and soloist Reverend Donald Paredes. Includes the world premiere of Psalm 91, a work composed by Charles Dickerson for all those who sustained loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Program Notes
Now in its 30th year, Angel City Chorale is among the premier choral groups in Southern California and is proud to represent the spirit and diversity of Los Angeles in its membership, its music, and its outreach activities, thereby fulfilling its mission to “Build Community One Song at a Time.”
Celebrated Artistic Director Fink founded the Chorale at world-famous McCabe’s Guitar Shop in 1993 with 18 singers with diverse musical experiences, creating a world-class choral sound. Her thirty-year career includes conducting worldwide, from Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles to Cadogan Hall with theRoyal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, and she conducted four performances on NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2018. Sue continues to be the guiding light and inspiration to Angel City Chorale, which has now grown to over 180 talented and dedicated singers, presenting a broad and eclectic repertoire including classical, gospel, pop and world music.
